A different kind of publishing company

Good books deserve the chance to find their audience.

Willow Publications is built for worthwhile books whose natural audience may be smaller than the traditional mass market.

No submission fees. No publishing packages. No required author purchases.

Our premise

A book does not need a mass-market audience to deserve professional publication.

Why Willow exists

A publisher for good books with smaller audiences.

Traditional publishers must consider more than the quality of a manuscript. They also weigh market size, category, timing, author platform, marketing opportunity, and how a book fits their list.

That means a thoughtful, original, valuable book may still be passed over if its expected audience is too small for conventional publishing economics.

Willow is designed for that space. We look for books we believe deserve a genuine opportunity to reach the readers who will appreciate them.

For authors

You remain the author. We become the publisher.

Self-publishing can offer maximum control, but it also asks the author to take on the work of a publishing company. Willow offers another way.

01

Traditional Publishing

Selective, professionally produced, and generally focused on books with significant commercial potential.

02

Self-Publishing

The author retains control while becoming responsible for editing, design, formatting, distribution, pricing, marketing, and administration.

03

The Willow Model

We select the book, prepare it professionally, publish it, distribute it, and work to help it reach its audience—without charging the author to publish.

Our process

Three possible outcomes. One goal: give promising books a fair reading.

Publish

We believe your manuscript is a strong fit for Willow.

We offer our standard publishing agreement and begin the editorial and production process.

Revise & Resubmit

We see potential, but the manuscript needs specific work.

Rather than ending the conversation with a rejection, we may identify the issues that need attention and invite you to submit a revised version.

Decline

Not every manuscript will be right for Willow.

If we are not the appropriate publisher for your book, we will decline it as clearly and respectfully as we can.

Our commitment

Our customer is the reader, not the author.

We want there to be no ambiguity about how Willow operates. If we accept your manuscript, we invest in publishing it alongside you.

Finding the right readers

Not every successful book needs a huge audience.

A specialized history, memoir, unusual novel, regional story, or focused work of nonfiction can matter enormously to a relatively small community.

Willow aims to identify those communities and market books with focus rather than trying to advertise every title to everyone.

What we promise

A genuine opportunity—not an empty guarantee.

We cannot promise that your book will become a bestseller, sell thousands of copies, or make significant money. No responsible publisher should make those promises.

What we can promise is that if Willow accepts your manuscript, we believe it deserves a genuine opportunity in the marketplace. We will professionally prepare it, publish it under the Willow name, make it available to readers, and work to help the right audience discover it.

And we will do that without asking you to finance the experiment.
